Capacity Is Limited for Everyone
Working memory has limited capacity. The exact number of items cannot be summarized by one universal magic number because performance depends on chunking, familiarity, task type, presentation, modality, and strategy. Avoid result language such as "humans can hold exactly seven things" — modern working-memory science is more nuanced than that.
What Can Affect Your Score?
Performance can vary with distraction, fatigue, poor sleep, anxiety, stress, age, task familiarity, hearing or vision, substances or medications, and device quality. One low score cannot identify the cause. If working-memory problems are new, severe, or interfering with daily life, broader professional evaluation may be appropriate.
